You don't need a Coach to tell you what everyone is already feeling: everything is too damn expensive, from groceries to gas. Families shouldn’t have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table while corporations rake in record profits.

My opponent thinks that you deserve $7.25 an hour. It's time to elect someone who believes dignified work for dignified pay.

Cap runaway utility rate hikes and hold Duke Energy accountable.

Expand state food support during federal shutdowns and emergencies.

Create a Carolina Family Affordability Credit for working families.

Protect our Small Farms and Businesses

Right now, small farms and businesses have a raw deal in Alamance. They're having to fight against billionaire tech companies and major developers over resources that they rely on to maintain their livelihoods.

Alamance deserves leadership that believes you and your business are more valuable to our community than a data center that takes up our water supply and raises your electric bill.

Coach Barnes's Plan:

Work with local officials to implement common-sense zoning policies.

Prevent rampant development that drains groundwater and vital resources by implementing state audits of development proposals.

Tax and regulate data centers to ensure communities receive the benefits without the adverse health and quality-of-life effects.

Making Raleigh Work for Us.

Raleigh politicians such as my opponent have shut the public out by closing inboxes, gerrymandering maps, and hiding votes.

Alamance County doesn’t need politicians who ‘follow leadership.’ We need leaders who follow you, the voter.

Keep an always-open email inbox for every constituent.

End gerrymandering through an independent redistricting commission.

Require online posting of committee votes within 24 hours.

Protect whistleblowers who expose corruption.

Investing in Public Schools.

Raleigh’s cuts to public schools are hurting Alamance County classrooms. Teachers are overworked, and kids are being left behind.

Parents want great public schools right down the street, not private vouchers that bleed our public dollars dry.

Coach Barnes's Plan:

Fully fund public schools and raise teacher pay.

Stop voucher schemes that drain public dollars from local schools.

Expand career and technical education options.

Fund after-school and nutrition programs for every child.

Invest in Climate and Disaster Resilience.

From flooding in the Haw River to storm damage across Alamance, our infrastructure is aging while storms are getting worse.

Every year we delay fixing our roads and repairing our communities, families pay the price. Let’s rebuild smarter and stronger.

Secure disaster-recovery funds to rebuild roads and homes.

Modernize stormwater systems to prevent flooding.

Invest in clean-energy and green jobs here at home.

As a proud husband and girl dad, Coach Barnes believes that government has no place in the doctor’s office when it comes to personal choices. Those decisions belong to our loved ones and their medical professional, end of story.
